An Analysis of Conflict Reflected by the Main Character In the Comic Entitled “100” by Hyeong Eun on Webtoon

This thesis aims to analyze and classify the conflicts that occur in the comic "100" on Webtoon, especially the conflicts faced by Hoyoung Cheon as the main character. The problem of this research focuses on the conflict faced by the main character and how the main character resolves them. The main data in this research was taken directly from the comic on webtoon entitled "100". The collected data were analyzed descriptively and classified by using two main theory and one supporting theory. The first theory used to analyze the types of conflict based on theory by Kenney, (1966) with the supporting theory by Nurgiyantoro (2009) that used to analyze the internal conflict. The theory used to analyze how the main character resolve the conflict, was the theory about conflict management strategies that proposed by Thomas and Kilmann, (1970). This research found the internal and external conflicts as types of conflict that occurred in the story. The findings of the study shows that there were 6 data on the types of external conflict that consist of 3 data on the conflict between man vs man and 3 data consist of the conflict between man vs society. To the types of internal conflict, found 3 data that are faced by the main character that occurred the conflict with himself. The conflict management strategies were used by the main character to resolve the conflict were divided into 5 strategies, namely competing, collaborating, compromising, accommodating and avoiding.
