Abstract
The purpose of the study is to identify the types of maxims flouted in Spencer movie and their implied meanings. This study solves two problems to complete this study, first, to find out the types of flouting maxim conveyed by the characters of The Spencer movie and second to look up the implied meanings of the utterance which contains flouting maxim found in the movie Spencer. The theory from Grice (1989) was implemented to analyze the flouting maxim and theory from Yule (1996) about conversational implicature used to examine the implied meanings from the flouting maxim that were collected from the script of Spencer movie. The method that was applied in this research is descriptive qualitative method which also presented in informal and formal way. The result of this study showed that the four types of flouting maxim were performed in Spencer movie. There are 20 data (41.6%) for flouting maxim of relevance, 10 data (21%) in flouting quantity maxim, 9 data (18.7%) for flouting manner maxim and flouting quality maxim
