AN ANALYSIS OF MORAL VALUES IN THE MOVIE LUCA

The aims of the study are to find out the kind of moral values that are reflected through the characters in the movie Luca and to analyze how moral values are delineated in the movie Luca. The data source of this study were taken from the movie entitled Luca. The theory proposed by Linda and Eyre (1993) in their book entitled Teaching Your Children Values are used to analyzed the moral values in the movie. The method analysis is a qualitative descriptive analysis. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and classified in accordance with the theory The moral values comes from the characters, sourced from their inner thought and motivation, behaviour, and interaction from one to another. The study found 17 data, which classified into eight types of moral values. The moral values of Honesty (6), Courage (2), Peaceability (1), Self-Reliance and Potential (1), Self-Discipline and Moderation (1) mostly emerged through their inner thought and personal motivation, which then influence certain attitude. While the moral values of Love and Affection (2), Loyalty and Dependability (2), Kindness and Friendliness (2) predominantly appeared through interaction between one or more characters and related to how they treats themselves. Thus, it contributes to builds a solid story and preserve each characters life.
