Abstract
This study focuses on the analysis of ecocriticism found in the short movie The
Turning Point by Steve Cutts. The research is about the relationship between
humans and animals, the human greed that is reflected in the animal character, and
the impact on the world and the environment. The study aims to identify the types
of ecocriticism. It was found that 65 shows the type of ecocriticism. A qualitative
method was used to analyse the data. The data were analysed following the types
of ecocriticism proposed by Garrad 2004) and the theory proposed by Nurgiyantoro
(2013) about the plot and character. There were six types of ecocriticism found by
the researchers: pollution, wilderness, apocalypse, dwelling, animals, and earth.
The results showed that of 65 of the pictures in the short movie of The Turning
Point, after analysing the data, it was found that The Turning Point short movie
showed a high occurrence of human greed as reflected by the animal (11%).
Meanwhile, only a small number of data showed pollution that makes following
impact to the other part like 15% wilderness,14% apocalypse, 8% dwelling and this
planet for the earth 8%. The effect of human greed is connected to each other.
