MOTIVASI DAN STATUS PSIKOSOSIAL PEMAKAI ALAT ORTODONTIK CEKAT DI SELURUH SMA KOTA AMLAPURA

Abstrak

Perawatan ortodontik cekat merupakan metode penyelarasan atau mengkoreksi penyimpangan gigi yang dapat mempengaruhi status psikososial pasien. Terdapat beberapa motivasi yang membuat seseorang memakai alat ortodontik cekat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat status psikososial dan motivasi pemakai alat ortodontik cekat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasional korelasi yang dilakukan pada 58 orang siswa pemakai alat ortodontik cekat di seluruh SMA/SMK kota Amlapura. Penilaian status psikososial menggunakan PIDAQ dan motivasi dinilai menggunakan kuesioner. Data dianalisis dengan cara deskriptif untuk status psikososial dan motivasi, serta secara analitik untuk mengevaluasi hubungan antara jenis kelamin, pendidikan orang tua, pendapatan orang tua dan motivasi terhadap status psikososial pasien menggunakan uji Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi pemakaian ortodontik cekat, jenis kelamin dan status sosial ekonomi dengan status psikososial. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi pemakaian ortodontik cekat, jenis kelamin dan status sosial ekonomi orang tua tidak mempengaruhi status psikososial.

Abstract

Fixed orthodontic treatment is a method of aligning or correcting dental irregularities that can affect the psychosocial status of the patients. Several factors motivated a person to use fixed orthodontic appliances. This study aims to determine the psychosocial status level and motivation of patients with fixed orthodontic appliances. This study is correlation observational research. The participants are 58 students who used fixed orthodontic appliances in senior high schools at Amlapura City. Psychosocial status was evaluated by Psychosocial Impact Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire (PIDAQ). The motivation was evaluated by a survey questionnaire. Psychosocial status and motivation data were analyzed descriptively. The relationship between gender, parents' education, parents' socialeconomic status, and motivation to use fixed orthodontics appliances on the patient's psychosocial status was analyzed by Spearman test. The results showed there is no significant relationship between motivation to use fixed orthodontic treatment, gender and parents' social-economic status on psychosocial status. This study shows that the motivation to use fixed orthodontic treatment, gender and parents' social-economic status did not affect psychosocial status.
