Abstract
The undertaking of the research was mainly based on the preliminary study. The objective was to know whether or not their speaking skill can be improved with the use of think pair share combined with picture. The researcher conducted classroom action research which was done in two cycles and each cycle consisted of two sessions. The subjects were 34 students which are 20 males and 14 females. The data were analyzed by comparing the results of the pre-test and post-tests which showed that there were significant improvements of the subjects’ mean score fromthe pre-test and post-tests. The mean score of the pre-test was 56.7, post-test I was 65.7; and post-test II was 83.1. As supporting data, the questionnaire was also administered in the end of the last cycle and the results showed positive responses on the use think pair share combined with picture to improve speaking skill. It could be stated that speaking skill of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara in academic year 20121/2022 can be improved with the use of think pair share combined with picture.
