CODE SWITCHING PHENOMENON IN “@TSMEDIAID” YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH NESSIE JUDGE

The study focused on code-switching phenomenon that occur on TS Media podcast video entitled “Nessie Judge 10 Tahun Jadi YouTuber, Bahas Konspirasi Malah Viral!”. The study aims to find out the types of code-switching and analyse the function of code-switching that occurred in podcast conversation. In the podcast conversation, there were three speakers who spoke Indonesian and English. Qualitative method was applied in analysing the data found in the podcast. The study applied the theory from Appel and Muysken (1987) to analyse the types of code switching and the function of code switching. After conducting the analysis three types of code switching were found on TS Media podcast, such as; intrasentential switching, inter-sentential switching, and tag-switching. The study also found five functions of code-switching, such as; referential function, expressive function, directive function, phatic function, and metalinguistic function. The codeswitching phenomenon is frequently found since three speakers on that podcast are bilingual speakers.
