Abstract

Writing skill is the ability to not only knowledge of language features but also the ability to process information and language on the spot. Preliminary research showed that most of VIII G students at SMPN 4 Sukawati in the academic year 2023/2024 faced problems in writing, especially in organizing their paragraphs. Moreover, the research objective was to know whether or not the writing skills of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 4 Sukawati can be improved through think pair share. Thus, to achieve the objective, the researcher conducted classroom action research which was done in two cycles. The research instruments, tests, and questionnaires, were administered to collect the required data. The data were then analyzed by comparing the results of the pre-test and post-tests which showed there were significant improvements in the subjects' mean scores from the pre-test to post-tests. As the supporting data, the questionnaire was also administered at the end of the last cycle and the results showed positive responses on the implementation of think pair share. Based on the results of the research instruments, it could be concluded that the writing skills of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 4 Mengwi in the academic year 2023/2024 can be improved through think pair share.
