Abstract

Nowadays code-mixing phenomenon is commonly employed as a means of communication, enabling individuals to express their thoughts and emotions. This study aims to find out the type of code-mixing and the reason of code-mixing. The data of this study were found in Danny Sumargo’s YouTube channel. Qualitative method is used for this study for analyzing the data. The method is applied in order to give give clear description on the data according to theory proposed by Hoffman (1991) about the type and reason of code mixing. The result showed that all type of code mixing were found in YouTube channel Danny Sumargo’s. The type of code mixing are intra-sentential, intra-lexical, and involving a change of pronunciation. The most dominant type of code mixing is intra-sentential code mixing with eleven data (85%). From the six reason of code mixing were found in this program the most dominant type of code mixing in the talk of the speaker and host was talking about particular topic with (83%) data.
