Abstract
The study entitled “The Illocutionary Acts in The Summer I Turned Pretty Series Season 2” focuses on types of illocutionary acts and the implied meaning of illocutionary act. The study applies theory proposed by Searle (1979) about classification of illocutionary acts to classify types of illocutionary acts, meanwhile, theory of meaning is proposed by Yule (1996). The technique of data collection is note-taking technique. The data are collected by taking note of the conversation in The Summer I Turned Pretty Series Season 2 and the data analysis of this study uses qualitative method. Formal method is used to present 19 data found in the movie and the data indicate There are five types of illocutionary acts found in The Summer 1 Turned Pretty Series Season 2 as a data source of this study. Based on 19 data found, 4 of data representative, 5 directives, 5 commisives, 4 expressives, and 1 declaratives.. As the result of this study, the most dominant type of illocutionary in The Summer I Turned Pretty Series Season 2 are representative and directives since the speakers mostly involve the intention in the future and make the hearer to do something. Furthermore, all the data have connotative meaning since the utterances contain implicit meaning.
