Abstract

The study is concerned with the Pragmatics and Speech Act. The speech act is found in the dialogue between customer and server interaction. This study aimed to identify preferred speech act classifications used by conversations between customers and servers in restaurant interactions. Restaurant interactions are an exciting and valuable area of research because they provide insights into how language is used to convey meaning and achieve social goals in a specific context based on Searle’s speech act classifications and their implication towards interaction language. The data are expected to be described based on facts using descriptive qualitative methods. There are to be several steps in analyzing the data. In terms of perlocutionary acts, there are 3 acts that most commonly occur.
