Directive Illocutionary Acts Used by Main Characters in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022" Movie

The aims of this study are to find out the types of directive illocutionary act are used by main characters in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 movie and to analyze the functions of directives illocutionary act used by main characters in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 movie. The data was taken from the utterances uttered by the main characters in the movie entitled Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 and supported by the script. Quantitative and descriptive methods were utilized in the process of data analysis. Formal and informal methods were used in the presentation of the findings. The theory of Kreidler's (1998) is used to analyze the many sorts of directive illocutionary actions, while the theory of Leech (1983) is used to explain the various types of functions within the language. A total of 72 data of information on directed illocutionary acts carried out by the major characters in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre have been uncovered as a result of this research. The most dominant type of directive used in the movie script was command 42 (58%) occurrences, and the last dominant type of directive in the film is request, with 20 (28%) occurrences. And finally, suggestion, with 10 (14%) occurrences. This study also concentrated on analyzing the functions of directives illocutionary of every statement made by the characters in the film. The functions of directives illocutionary included competitive, collaborative, convivial, and conflictive. It was discovered that every one of the statements was revealed to be founded on these three elements of functions directives illocutionary.
