THE ANALYSIS OF JARGONS USED BY SURVIVAL VLOGGERS ON YOUTUBE

The study concerns the jargon used by survival vloggers onYouTube. The study aims to find out the form and the meaning of jargonsused by survival vloggers on YouTube. This study used descriptive andqualitative methods. The data was collected by watching the videos thathave been downloaded from YouTube and capturing the scenes andsubtitles that contain the jargon. Jargon is a type of variety of languageused in social interaction communities. This study uses theory from Chaerand Augustin ( 2010 ) that divided the form of jargon, theory from Chaika( 1981 ) and theory from Leech ( 1982 ) about the theory of meaning. Asthe data, the writer used the capturing of subtitles from survival vloggersvideos on YouTube which contain the jargon. The writer found 25 jargonsthat were used by survival vloggers on their video of survival andbushcraft activities. The study concludes that there were 4 forms of jargonused by survival vloggers, they are word, phrase, abbreviation andacronym. In this study there are 12 jargons with word form, 10 jargonswith phrase form, 2 jargons with abbreviation form and 1 jargon withacronym form. Besides that, there were also two meanings of jargon,namely denotative and connotative.
