Abstract
Speaking skill is one of the four important skills in English that must be mastered. In fact, most of the students in Seniors High School faced problems in speaking skill. This study aims to determine the extent to which students' speaking skills at SMA (SLUA) Saraswati 1 Denpasar for the 2023/2024 school year can be improved through role-play techniques. To achieve the objectives of this study, this study consisted of pre-test, post-test and questionnaires. From the research that has been carried out, the average student ability results are 56.94. Then the researcher applied the role-play technique to improve students' abilities. The post-test was given at the end of each cycle and the average student score was 74.15 in post-test 1 and 84.84 in post-test 2. From these data role-play has an effect on improving students' speaking skills. Apart from that, to collect additional data, the researcher gave a questionnaire at the end of cycle 2. This questionnaire proved that the roleplay technique could improve students' speaking skills in class XI at SMA (SLUA) Saraswati 1 Denpasar in the 2023/2024 school year and the subjects also responded positively.
