Abstract
Writing is an active or productive skill, so students who learn to write must learn how to find and express ideas. Writing should be learned because they need to pay attention to some aspects related to writing skills, such as thinking to find ideas and words, making sentences and paragraphs, and compositions. The present research objective was mainly intended to find out whether writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 3 Ubud in the academic year 2023/2024 be improved by implementing Think-Pair-Share. The present study used the classroom action research design that was conducted in two cycles. The required data were collected by administering research instruments: tests and questionnaire. After administering a pre-test, post-test 1, post-test 2, and a questionnaire, it was found that Think-Pair-Share was an appropriate teaching technique to improve the subjects’ writing skill, especially in constructing a descriptive paragraph. It could be seen from the results of the pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2, which showed significant improvements in their writing skill. Furthermore, it was supported by administering a questionnaire, which showed positive responses to the implementation of Think-Pair-Share. It can be concluded that writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 3 Ubud in the academic year 2023/2024 could be improved through Think-Pair-Share.
