THE MAIN CHARACTER’S CONFLICT IN THE MOVIE “REDEEMING LOVE”

This study of the thesis is THE MAIN CHARACTER’S CONFLICT IN THE MOVIE “REDEEMING LOVE”. There are two objectives of this study; the first one is to find out the types of conflicts that the main character faced in the movie Redeeming Love. The second one is to analyze how the main character manages to settle the conflict in the movie Redeeming Love. The data sources of this study were taken from the downloaded movie of Redeeming Love. The collected data were analyzed descriptively based on Kenney’s theory of literature (1996). The result of this study reveals that the conflicts faced by the main character can be divided into internal conflict and external conflict. External conflicts faced by Angel as the main characters were mostly with the other characters. Conflicts between Angel against Duchess, Angel against Magowan, Angel against Michael, Angel against Paul, and Angel against Duke. Internal conflicts are mostly faced by Angel herself. The way used by the main characters to settle the conflict was the following conflict management strategy, namely: compromise, pacification competition, and creative integration
