AN ANALYSIS OF SLANG WORD IN Walt Disney’s “RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON” MOVIE (2021)

The study is concerned with the slang word found in Walt Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon movie (2021). This study is aimed to find out the types of slang and to analyze the slang word formation found in Raya and The Last Dragon movie. Raya and the Last Dragon movie was chosen as the data source. Observation method was used to collecting the data, there are several steps was done to collect the data such as; watching the movie, reading the movie script, and take notes of every data. In analyzing the data there are two theories used, this study applied the theory of types of slang by Allan and Buridge (2006) and to analyse the word formation of slang word, this study applied theory from Mattielo (2008). The descriptive qualitative method was used in the study. The result of the study shows that, there are 19 data analyzed and define into four types of slang according to Allan and Buridge (2006) theory. The data found as follows, fresh and creative with eight (8) data, flippant with two (2) data, imitative with six (6) data, and clipping with three (3) data. In slang word formation regarding Mattielo (2008) theory, the most formation found is variation, because most of the character use a modified word in several conversation
