Abstract
This research was focused on the types of slang and the functions of slang analysis found in “Lady Bird” movie. The aims of this study are to identify the types of slang used in the movie “Lady Bird” and to analyze the functions of slang used in the movie “Lady Bird”. This study applied the theory proposed by Allan and Burridge (2006) to analyze the types of slang words and to analyze the function of slang words found in “Lady Bird” movie. Based on the research, 27 data of slang words were found. There were four types of slang words found in the movie “Lady Bird”, they are 15 slang words classified as fresh and creative, 6 slang words classified as flippant, 3 slang words classified as imitative, and 3 slang words classified as clipping. All functions of slang words were found in “Lady Bird” movie, 2 data categorized as to address, 6 data categorized as to humiliate, 5 data categorized as to initiate relax conversation, 6 data categorized as to form intimate atmosphere, 2 data categorized as to express impression, 4 data categorized as to reveal anger and 2 data categorized as to show intimacy
