In collecting the data, the researcher took several steps in presenting the result, the data were collected by observation method through watching, reading the script, taking notes and selecting the type of flouting maxim in the Taxi Driver movie. The result showed 25 flouting maxim data from the “Taxi Driver” movie, from all of them, the 10 data (40%) were selected as flouting maxim relevance as the most finding, followed by flouting maxim quantity with 6 data (24%) and flouting maxim quality with 5 data (20%) and last but not least with the lowest data finding 4 data (16%) by flouting maxim manner. Flouting maxim relevance occurs because the participant must answer the question in the context that is in accordance with what is being asked, may not lead to another question or change the topic of the conversation, this film which includes social issues also displays scenes that are surprising and difficult to predict at first, narratives that are sometimes unthinkable before from the cast is conveyed quite clearly every time scene after scene changes, such as information overload, changing the topic, making jokes, and denying utterances. As a driving force for the story, Travis often does this too, his desire to want something and a funny character sometimes makes him speak a bit too much in order to create someone's sympathy, that is why the maxim of relevance is a maxim that is often violated in the “Taxi Driver” film
