Illocutionary acts can be found in our daily life and in some literary works. This study focused on analyzing the illocutionary acts produced by the character of In Time movie. The study aimed at analyzing the types of illocutionary acts found in the movie and then analyze the function of it. The data in this study was collected from the dialogue of the movie In Time and was analyzed using the descriptive qualitative method. The data was analyzed using the theory by Searle (1979) to classify the types of illocutionary acts and the theory by Leech (1989) to analyze the function of illocutionary acts found. In addition, the context of the situation was used to support the analysis using the theory by Holmes (2013). The result of this study shows that from the movie entitled In Time, all types of illocutionary acts that were proposed by Searle (1979), namely: assertive, expressive, directive, commissive and declaration, were uttered by the characters. Moreover, all varieties of illocutionary functions by Leech (1989), namely convivial, collaborative, competitive and conflictive, were found in the utterances uttered by the character from the movie.
