CHARACTERIZATION ANALYSIS OF THE CHARACTERS IN “RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON” MOVIE

This study entitled “Characterization Analysis of the Characters in “Raya and The Last Dragon Movie” aims to find out the types of the characters and to analyze how described the characterization of the character in the movie entitled “Raya and The Last Dragon”. The method used is the documentation method by capturing every scene and dialogue that will be used as data in this thesis. This study used the theory by Kenney (1966) the types of fictional; Simple/Flat Character, Complex/Round Character. And for the characterization analysis used theory of Egri (1985) “The three-dimensional theory; Physiological dimension, Sociological dimension, and Psychological dimension. This movie has seven characters; Raya, Sisu, Namaari, Tong, Boun, Benja, and Virana. The result of this study found three characters of type Complex/Round character they are; Raya, Namaari, and Tong. In type Simple/Flat character found their four character they are; Sisu, Boun, Benja, and Virana. The characterization of the Characters; Raya is a Brave and hopeful, caring, grumpy, angry, vengeful person, Sisu is a dragon she is funny and kind dragon, Namaari has a tough, cunning psychological aspect, Boun is a brave, fragile person, Tong is a caring, gentle man person, Benja is a leader he has an idealist and visionary person, and the last is Virana, she is a leader of Fang she has a selfish, cunning, and protective person. In this movie every characters has a different characterization.
