Abstract
Speaking is one of four skills in language that must be mastered by the Students. The pre-test result showed that most of the students in SMP Negeri 7 Denpasar in the academic year 2022/2023 faced problem in speaking. Besides, the students still faced difficulties in speaking skill. Students still had problem in fluency, comprehension and grammar. Moreover, this study was mainly intended to know whether or not speaking skill of eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023 can be improved through Three Step Interview Study Activate. Thus, to achieve the objects of the study, the researcher conducted classroom action research. The research was done in two cycles, and each cycle consisted of two sessions. The research instruments were administered to collect the required data. The data were than analyzed by comparing the pre-test and post-test result, which showed significant improvements in the subjects’ mean scores from the pre-test 59.67, post-test 1 68.16 to the last post-test 79.48. As the supporting data, the questionnaire was also administered at the end of the last cycle, and the result showed positive responses on the implementation of Three Step Interview Study Activate. Based on the test and questionnaire result, it could be concluded that speaking skill of the Eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Denpasar in academic year 2022/2023 can be improved through Three Step Interview Study Activate.
