Abstract

Speaking is an important skill for success in college and in the world of work. Speaking allows students to facilitate communication with others. Preliminary research shows that most students in class XMM at SMK Negeri 6 Denpasar in academic year 2022/202 have problems speaking. They have difficulty in expressing what they feel so they are passive in communicating in English. In addition, the purpose of this study was to find out whether the speaking ability of class XMM students could be improved through the application of the Think pair share with Picture technique. Therefore, researchers conducted classroom action research in two cycles. The research instruments are tests and questionnaires. The data obtained were analyzed by comparing the results of the pre-test with the post-test which showed a significant change in the subject's average score from pre-test to post-test. Questionnaires were also given at the end of the last cycle and the results showed a positive response to the application of the Think pair share with Picture technique. Based on the results of the instrument it can be concluded that the speaking ability of class X MM students at SMK Negeri 6 Denpasar can be improved through the Think pair share with Picture technique
