Abstract

The present study which made use of correlational research design was intended to figure out the significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the tenth-grade students of SMK Restumuning in academic year 2022/2023. The samples of the research consisted of 32 students which were chosen by means of cluster random sampling. The data were collected through administering the research instrument which were in the form of matching cloze procedure test and short answer task. The obtained data were statistically analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and T-test. The result showed that there was a correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension which portrayed by a figure of correlation coefficient 0.879. Additionally, the significance level of both vocabulary and reading comprehension score was .000, which means it is smaller than .05 (.000 ≤ .05). The result of the data analysis clearly revealed the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In other words, the research findings confirmed that there was a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the tenth-grade students of SMK Restumuning in academic year 2022/2023
