AN ANALYSIS OF CONFLICT FACED BY THE MAIN CHARACTER IN “MILE 22”MOVIE

Movie is a type of literary work. It is one type of modern drama. A movie is like a film, a form of visible conversation which makes use of transferring pics and sound to inform or tell the stories. This study used Mile 22 movie as the object of the study various conflicts that happened in this film. It is an interesting data source to be analyzed. This study is about the main character conflict in the Mile 22 movie. This study aims to discoverthe types of conflict that are faced by the main characters,and how do the main characters resolve the conflict in Mile 22 movie. The theory from Reaske (1966) is used as framework to analyze the types of conflict found in Mile 22 movie. The data collection was done by watching the movie carefully and repeatedly, especially the action and conversation, and classifying the types and strategies used found in the movie. Meanwhile, the data analysis uses the qualitative method. The results of this study show that types of conflict found in the data source can be divided into two parts, namely internal conflict and external conflict. The internal conflicts experienced by the main characters include emotions, dilemmas, disappointment, and anger. While the external conflicts experienced by the main characters include confrontations with the other characters and also ideas in society. Meanwhile, the conflict management strategy can be divided into five parts, namely avoiding, accommodating, collaborative, compromising, and competitive.
