THE CORRELATION BETWEEN VOCABULARY MASTERY AND READING COMPREHENSION OF THE TENTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 UBUD IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

The aim of the study was to find out the correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. In conducting this research, the researcher has collected the data through correlational research, which used test as the instrument for getting the data. The researcher used simple random sampling to take the sample in this present study. The samples were 50 students of the tenth-grade Students of SMAN 1 Ubud Year 2021/2022. The data was in the form of quantitative data. It was taken from matching cloze procedure test and short answer test. The obtained data were statistically analyzed trough pre-requisite analysis; normality and homogeneity tests and hypothesis testing: Pearson product-moment correlation and t-test. After the research data were normally and homogeneously distributed, the researcher then did hypothesis testing. The results of the data analysis clearly revealed the alternative hypothesis was finally accepted. In other words, the research findings confirmed that there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Ubud.
