Abstract
The study entitled An Analysis of Illocutionary Acts found in The Short History of the Long Road Movie. This study focuses on types and the implied meaning of illocutionary acts and the context of situation. This study applied theory proposed by Searle (1976) about classification of illocutionary acts to classify types of illocutionary acts. The method of collection the data is note-taking technique. The data are collected by taking note of the conversation in The Short History of the Long Road movie and the data analysis of this study uses qualitative method. The result of study show that 24 data found in the movie and the data indicate 5 data of representatives, 10 data of directives, 2 data commissives, 4 data of expressives, 3 data of declaratives. As the result of this study, the most dominant type of illocutionary in The Short History of the Long Road movie is directives since the speakers mostly involve the intention in the future and make the hearer to do something. Furthermore, all the data have connotative meaning, reflected meaning, affective meaning, conceptual meaning and thematic meaning since the utterances contain implicit meaning.
