THE CORRELATION BETWEEN READING INTEREST AND READING COMPREHENSION OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 KUTA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

The present study which made use of and ex-post facto research with correlation design was intended to find out the significant correlation between reading interest and reading comprehension of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Kuta in academic year 2022/2023. The samples of the research consisted of 35 students which were determined by means of cluster sampling method with lottery system. The data were collected through administering the research instruments which were in form of short answer task and questionnaire. The obtain data were statistically analysed by using the normality test, the homogeneity test, Pearson product moment, and T-test. The result of the data analysis clearly revealed the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In other word, the research finding confirmed that there is a significant correlation between reading interest and reading comprehension of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Kuta Utara in academic year 2022/2023.
