ANALYSIS OF CONFLICTS AS ELEMENTS OF PLOT IN "MALEFICENT" MOVIE BY ROBERT STROMBERG

This study was aimed at analyzing the problems namely (1) What are the conflicts occurring in “Maleficent” movie? (2) How do the conflicts construct the dramatic plot in “Maleficent” movie? The data source for this movie was taken from the movie directed by Robert Stromberg and it was released in 2014, 28 may with a duration of 97 minutes. The theories that are used in this thesis proposed by Kenney (1966) to solve the first problem about the conflict that occurs in movie, the second theory is proposed by Aristotle (1996) to solve the second problem about plot that constructed by the conflict. The data in this thesis were collected by using observation method and in order to analyzing the data were used qualitative and descriptive methods. The method that applied in presenting the data are formal and informal methods. The formal method used to explain the type of conflicts in Maleficent movie which occurred by table in the movie used theory of literature by Kenny (1966). The informal method used to describe each part of the dramatic plots in the Maleficent movie which was constructed by the conflict and explain each which occurred narratively, as well as in the form of paragraphs used theory of dramatic plot by Aristotle(1999).
