AN ANALYSIS OF SLANG WORDS FOUND IN “AFTER WE COLLIDED” MOVIE

The research aimed to determine types of slang words and to analyze the meaning of slang words used in the "After We Collided" movie. The data source was taken from a movie entitled "After We Collided". This study used the theory proposed by Kipfer and Chapman (2007) to solve the first problem of determining the types of slang words found in the data source. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The theory proposed by Leech (1981) was used to analyze the meaning of slang words found in "After We Collided" movies. As a result of the analysis, it is found that there were thirty-eight (38) data categorized as slang words. From all the data, the primary slang words were found with the amount twenty-one (21) data and the percentage 55,3%. Meanwhile, the type of secondary slang word consisted of seventeen (17) data with the percentage 44,7%. Based on the theory of meaning, it showed that the data categorized as conceptual meaning were two (2) data, connotative meaning consisted of eight (8) data, social meaning found twentythree (23) data, affective meaning consisted of seven (7) data, and collocative meaning are one (1) data. It can be concluded that the primary slang words are the most dominant types consist in the "After We Collided" movie because those words are familiar and usually used in daily conversation to socialize daily life.
