Abstract
This research discussed the correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability of the eighth-grade students of SMP (SLUB) Saraswati 1 Denpasar in the academic year 2022/2023. This research aimed to find out the correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability. The sample was selected by using cluster sampling technique consisting of 37 students. Moreover, in collecting the data, the researcher used two kinds of test: grammar mastery test and writing test. SPSS 25.0 program was used to analyze the data with the following steps: normality testing, homogeneity testing, Pearson Product Moment, and t-test. The result of this research showed that there was a significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability with r value 0.924. In addition, the hypothesis was accepted that was shown from the value of t-counted was 8.964 > t-table which was 2.028. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is significant correlation between students’ grammar mastery and writing ability.
