Abstract
Reading is a set of skills which include making sense and deriving the meaning from the printed word on the paper. Preliminary research showed that most of IX J students at SMP N 2 Kuta in academic year 2022/2023 faced problem in reading comprehension especially identifying general information, specific information, textual meaning, and textual reference. Thus, this study was aimed to find out whether or not question-answer relationship can improve reading comprehension of the ninth grade students of SMP N 2 Kuta. This study made use of classroom action research which was done two cycles. The researcher instruments, test and questionnaire, were administered to collect the required data. The data were then by comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test. The result showed that there was improvement of the subjects’ reading comprehension, precycle (48.94) up to cycle I (75.24) then it improved in cycle II (82.34). As the supporting data, the questionnaire was also administered at the end of the last cycle and the results showed positive responses on the implementation of QuestionAnswer Relationship. Based on the results of the research instruments, it could be concluded that reading comprehension of the ninth grade students of SMP N 2 Kuta in academic year 2022/2023 can be improved through Question-Answer Relationship.
