PENGARUH EKSTRAK KULIT BATANG KAYU MANIS (Cinnamomum burmanii) 50% TERHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR IL-6 TIKUS WISTAR JANTAN (Rattus norvegicus) PERIODONTITIS YANG DIINDUKSI LPS (lipopolisakarida)

Abstrak

Periodontitis merupakan penyakit periodontal berupa inflamasi kronis pada jaringan penyangga gigi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri plak. Proses kerusakan jaringan periodontal pada periodontitis diawali akumulasi plak yang mengandung bakteri dan toksin yang bersifat patogenik. Interaksi antara bakteri plak dan produknya serta respon tubuh sel penjamu memicu respon inflamasi yang dapat menyebabkan ulserasi pada gingiva, kerusakan jaringan ikat, kehilangan tulang alveolar hingga kehilangan gigi. Periodontitis biasanya berkembang dari gingivitis yang sudah terjadi, walaupun tidak semua gingivitis berkembang menjadi periodontitis.. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak kulit batang kayu manis terhadap penurunan kadar IL-6 penyembuhan periodontitis. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan eksperimental laboratoris in vivo pada 32 ekor tikus putih galur wistar dengan rancangan penelitian menggunakan model penelitian kuasi dengan posttest only control group design yang diacak menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol: diinduksi LPS dan diberi gel Tetrasiklin (Eryzol) secara topikal, kelompok perlakuan: diinduksi LPS dan diberi gel ekstrak kulit batang kayu manis 50%. Dari uji analisis komparasi degan uji Independent T-Test menunjukan bahwa nilai signifikan jumlah penurunan kadar IL-6 pada masingmasing kelompok yaitu 0,194 lebih besar dari 0,05. Hal ini berarti bahwa terdapat perbedaan antar kelompok. Dari hasil penelitian dapat dikatakan bahwa ekstrak kulit batang kayu manis (Cinnamomum Burmanni) konsentrasi 50% berpengaruh dalam penurunan kadar IL-6 pada penyembuhan periodontitis.

Abstract

Periodontitis is a periodontal disease in the form of chronic inflammation of the supporting tissues of the teeth caused by plaque bacteria. The process of periodontal tissue destruction in periodontitis begins with the accumulation of plaque containing pathogenic bacteria and toxins. The interaction between plaque bacteria and their products and the response of the host cell body triggers an inflammatory response that can cause ulceration of the gingiva, damage of connective tissue, loss of alveolar bone to loss of tooth. Periodontitis usually develops from pre-existing gingivitis, although not all gingivitis progresses to periodontitis. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of cinnamon bark extract on decreasing IL-6 level in periodontitis healing. The method of this study was in vivo laboratory experiments on 32 wistar white rats with a research design using quasi research model with posttest only control group design which was randomized into two groups, namely the control group: LPS induced and given topical Tetracycline (Eryzol) gel, then the treatment group: LPS induced and given 50% cinnamon bark extract gel. From the comparative analysis test with Independent T-Test, it was shown that the significant value of the decrease in IL-6 level in each group was 0,194, greater than 0,05. This meant that there were differences between groups. From the results of the study, it could be said that a concentration of 50% cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanni) bark extract had an influence on decreasing IL-6 level in periodontitis healing.
