Abstract
ABSTRACT
The color change of the teeth is known as discoloration. Dental bleaching is a treatment option on the teeth surface with a chemical repair process. The use of chemicals as a bleaching treatment has side effects, therefore natural ingredients are needed to be safe for dental and oral health. One of the alternatives used are 100% and 50% kepok banana peel (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) extract. The type of research used is the pretest-posttest group design. The samples formed in total of 27 mandibular permanent incisors were divided into three experimental groups, namely the group immersed with 100% kepok banana peel (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) extract, 50% kepok banana peel (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) extract, and artificial saliva. Measurements were carried out objectively with a spectrophotometer. The data in this study were normally distributed and homogeneous. The pretest-posttest paired analysis using the Paired T-Test showed that the mean difference between the before and after groups were significantly different. Parametric statistical tests with Oneway Anova showed that there were significant differences in each group after treatments. The highest level of effectiveness was owned by 100% kepok banana peel (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) extract, seen from the mean difference value of the LSD Post Hoc test. Based on the study results, it can be concluded that 100% and 50% kepok banana peel (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) extract are effective as bleaching materials and had a significant difference in effectiveness as materials
ABSTRAK
Perubahan warna pada gigi dapat disebut dengan diskolorasi. Dental bleaching merupakan pilihan perawatan pada permukaan gigi dengan proses perbaikan secara kimiawi. Penggunaan bahan kimia sebagai perawatan bleaching memiliki efek samping sehingga diperlukan bahan alami yang aman untuk kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Salah satu alternatif yang digunakan yaitu ekstrak kulit pisang kepok (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) 100% dan 50%. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest group design. Sampel berupa gigi insisivus permanen rahang bawah sejumlah 27 sampel dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok eksperimental yaitu kelompok yang direndam dalam ekstrak kulit pisang kepok (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) 100%, ekstrak kulit pisang kepok (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) 50%, dan saliva buatan. Pengukuran dilakukan secara objektif dengan spektrofotometer. Data dalam penelitian ini berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Uji analisis berpasangan pretest-posttest menggunakan uji Paired T-Test menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan rata-rata dari kelompok sebelum dan setelah berbeda secara signifikan. Uji statistik parametrik dengan Oneway Anova menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna pada setiap kelompok setelah perlakuan. Tingkat efektivitas tertinggi dimiliki oleh ekstrak kulit pisang kepok (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) 100% dilihat dari nilai mean difference uji Post Hoc LSD. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak kulit pisang kepok (Musa acuminata balbisiana Colla) 100% dan 50% efektif sebagai bahan bleaching serta memiliki perbedaan efektivitas yang signifikan sebagai bahan bleaching.
