Abstract
In learning English, speaking is one of the reductive skills in English. It is mentioned as one of the most difficult skill because the learners should produce utterances as clear as possible in conveying their ideas to the audience. In the present study, the Eleventh - grade students of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022 still had difficulties in learning speaking. The present study was intended to answer the following research problem: can the speaking ability of the eleventh- grade students of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar be improved by using think pair share? The research design was classroom action research. The subjects of the study were XI AKL 2 class of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar which consisted of 30 students. Based on the result of the pre - test which was carried out the pre - cycle, it showed that the subjects ' speaking skill was still low. This study was carried out by implementing think pair share in two cycles The result of the post - test in each cycle obviously showed that were significant improvement concerning the subjects ' speaking skill. The questionnaire proved that the subjects ' responses toward implementation of think pair share was positive during the learning - teaching process. In conclusion, the speaking skill of the eleventh-grade students of SMK Saraswati 1 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022 can be improved by using think pair share.
