AN ANALYSIS OF CONFLICT FACED BY MAIN CHARACTER IN “MONSTER HUNT” MOVIE

The aims of this study are to find out the conflict faced by main character, to analyze the source of conflict and to identify how the main characters manages the conflict. The data source was a movie entitled “Monster Hunt”. The first theory proposed by Kenney (1966:19) was used to analyze the source of conflict. The second was taken from Thomas and Kilmann (1970) that was used to analyze the conflict management strategy. The data were collected through several steps, the writer downloaded the movie. Second to collect the data the research watched the movie carefully and intensively, especially the action and the conversation on the movie to fiend the types of conflict and the source of conflict. Third finding out the transcript of “Monster Hunt” movie. Fourth reading the script of the movie. Fifth take note every conflict and moment in the script. sixth arrange the sequence of the events. Based on the result of the analysis, it is found that (1) the types of conflict can be found into two aspects, namely internal conflict and external conflict, the internal conflict faced by main character includes fear and confusion. While the external conflict faced by main character includes the environment and work environment, and (2) the sources of the conflict avoiding, compromise, accommodating, collaboration.
