AN ANALYSIS OF MORAL VALUE IN TOY STORY MOVIE

The aims of this study are to analyze the moral value found in Toy Story movie and the way of the character reflected the values in the movie. The data of this study were taken from the movie entitle Toy Story movie. This movie tells of a friendship between a human and toys, the main character was Sheriff Woody, Andy’s favorite toy. Andy does not only have Woody, there were also other toys such as Buzz, Slinky, Rex, Mr, Potato Head, Hamm, and Bo Peep. This movie gives a very good example in a friendship, and also helping each other. This movie has a duration of 81 minutes, very interesting to watch and gives a good moral values. The theory from Audi’s (2007) used to analyze moral value in the movie. Therefore, theory from Klarer (2004) used to analyzed the way character reflected the moral value in the movie. The method used in this study was qualitative method. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and classified in accordance with their types of moral value, then categorized the data based on the theory. Based on the analyses the moral value was dealing with three kinds of moral namely Virtue, Kantian or Intuitionist and Utilitarianism. The social value reflected by the characters in terms of their behavior, relation, interaction and social group, while moral value reflected by the characters in terms of virtue on what things that was right and wrong and Kantian and Intuitionist based on result of the act must be created the great happiness to the greatest number.
