ANALYSIS OF CONFLICT FACED BY THE MAIN CHARACTERS IN THE MOVIE FAST & FURIOUS: HOBBS & SHAW

In the thesis entitled “An Analysis of Conflict Faced by the main Character in the Movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw”, conflict analysis became the main topic in this study. Finding the types of conflict faced by the main character in the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw and analyzed how the conflict construct the plot in the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw became the objectives of this study. The data source in this study was taken directly from the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, where main characters' conversations were taken as the data. The data was collected through observation method where consist of some steps where mainly focus on watching the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw and reading the script of the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw. The data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method by using theories related with the topic were used namely theory of conflict proposed by Kenney (1966) used to analyze the types of conflict faced by the main characters in the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, and theory of plot used to analyze how the conflict constructed the plot in the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw. The data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative methods and presented by formal and informal methods. In the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, there are some types of conflict were found namely, five internal conflicts and seventeen external conflicts. The external conflict consisted of nine conflict of man against man, one conflict of man against nature, and seven conflicts of man against society. For how the conflict constructed the plot in the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, it was shown that every conflict faced by the main characters developed the plot of the story toward the ends.
