Abstract
In learning English, reading is worth noted for English learners. It provides a good model for English writing and opportunities to study vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation, demonstrating how to construct sentences, paragraphs, and whole texts. In the present study, the seventh-grade students of SMP TP. 45 Denpasar, it was found that they were unable to understand or gain the information from a text in reading class. The present research was intended to figure out whether reading comprehension of the seventh-grade students of SMP TP. 45 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022 can be improved through think pair share or not. The research design was classroom action research. The subjects of the study were VII A class of SMP TP. 45 Denpasar which consisted of 30 students. Based on the results of the pre-test which was carried out in the pre-cycle, it showed that the subjects’ reading comprehension was still low. This study was carried out by implementing think pair share in two cycles. The results of the post-test in each cycle obviously showed that were significant improvement concerning the subjects’ reading comprehension. The questionnaire proved that the subjects’ responses toward the implementation of think pair share was positive. In conclusion, the speaking skill of the seventh-grade students of SMP TP. 45 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022 can be improved through think pair share.
