Abstract

This study was intended to determine the correlation between students’ motivation and reading comprehensions by answering questioner and the short answer test. The present made use of an ex-post facto research with a correlation design. The research sample was the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Abiansemal in the academic year 2021/2022. The samples of the research were chosen by means of a random sampling method with lottery system and for population there are 490 so that, they were 70 samples who are selected in this research. The data which were needed for the present study were collected through administering questionnaires and short answer test as the research instruments. To collect the data, the researcher used these two research instruments. The collected data were then analyzed by using SPSS 26 pre- requisite analysis; normality and homogeneity test and hypothesis testing: Pearson product-moment correlation and t-test. Based on the statistical analysis, it can be concluded that there was a significant correlation between motivation and reading comprehension of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Abiansemal in the academic year 2021/2022.
