THE CORRELATION BETWEEN READING HABIT AND WRITING ABILITY OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA HARAPAN NUSANTARA DENPASAR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

The present study aims at finding out the correlation between reading habit and writing ability of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Harapan Nusantara Denpasar in Academic Year 2021/2022. The design was correlational research design. The sample was 36 students. In collecting the data of this research, the writer used two instruments which were writing test for writing ability and questionnaire for reading habit. The data collected in this research was analysed by Pearson product moment using SPSS version 21.0 for windows. According to the result of the analysis and statistical calculation, it is found that r was 0.875. it is showed that the correlation between reading habit and writing ability of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Harapan Nusantara Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022, it lies between 0.800-1.00 which is high level. However, to know whether there is significant correlation between both variables, the researcher also used t-testing using SPSS version 21.0 for windows and it is found t was 5.094. It is showed that the significant correlation between reading habit and writing ability of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Harapan Nusantara Denpasar in Academic Year 2021/2022.
