THE CORRELATION BETWEEN ENGLISH GRAMMAR AND WRITING SKILL OF THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMPN 12 DENPASAR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

This research was aimed at figuring out the correlation between English grammar and their writing skills in writing paragraph descriptive text. The objective of this research was to know whether there is a significant correlation between English grammar and writing skills of the eighth grade students at SMPN 12 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022. There were two variables in this research, independent variable (X) and dependent variable (Y), where “English grammar as (X) and writing skills as (Y) variables”. The researcher also used quantitative analysis to interpret the output data of the students. Statistics analysis is a method to organized and analysis data quantitative or data that to need as data quantitative. Quantitative analysis was done using statistics which is called statistics analysis or inferential statistics on SPSS 24 Version. Based on the problem, where the researcher wanted to find out that there is a significant correlation between English grammar and writing skill which was reinforced by the result by using SPSS 24 version. The correlation between English grammar and writing skill has low correlation based on the table 4.6 where the size of Pearson correlation was 0.30 to 0.49 were categorized low correlation and result was 0.239 which means the result was has low correlation. Moreover, the significant value with 2-tailed showed that 0.014 was the result. This means there is a significant between English grammar and writing skill of the eighth grade students at SMPN 12 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022.
