Abstract

This correlational study is aimed to find out the correlation between motivation and reading achievement of the seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Denpasar in academic year 2020/2021. There were two variables in this researcher which were motivation as independent variable (X) and reading achievement as dependent variable (Y). In conducting the researcher, there were 35 samples which were chosen from 10% of the population using random sampling with lottery system. To collect the data, the research used two instrument; they were questionnaire short answer test. In order to know the correlation between two variables, the data collected then analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation in SPSS Statistic 26. According to the result of the data analysis and statistical calculation, it was found that was 0. 457. It shows that there is significant correlation between motivation and reading achievement of the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Denpasar in academic year 2020/2021.
