Abstract

Speaking skill is the ability to express something in daily life by easy good communication that can be understood by each other when they want to express their idea. The objective of the present study was to find out whether the extent of speaking skill of the eighth-grade students of SMP Katolik Palla in academic year 2020/2021 could be improved through Experiential Learning Method through classroom action research. Therefore, to achieve the objective of the present study the research activities consisted of pre-test, post-test and questionnaire. The result of the pre-test clearly showed that the subject under study were low 62.3. Then, the researcher applied Experiential Learning Method to increase the ability of the subjects under study. The post-tests were administered at the end of each cycle by using procedure text. The result of the of post-test in cycle I and cycle II were 77.1 and 85.2. The signification different figured that cycle II was more effective than cycle I. Moreover, to collect the additional supporting data, the researcher administered the questionnaire at the end cycle II. It showed that the students’ motivation and attitude changed positively after the implementation of Experiential Learning Method. To sum up, the present classroom action research proved that speaking ability of the eighth-grade students of SMP Katolik Palla in academic year 2020/2021 could be improved through Experiential Learning Method through classroom action research. In addition, the subjects also responded positively.
