THE CORRELATION BETWEEN VOCABULARY MASTERY AND ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT WRITING ABILITY OF THE TWELFTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 1 GIANYAR IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

This correlational study is aimed at finding out the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and analytical exposition text writing ability of the twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gianyar in academic year 2021/2022. The samples of 72 students were chosen by applying random sampling with lottery method system involved in the research. The researcher used two tests to get the data of vocabulary mastery and analytical exposition text writing ability: multiple cloze test items for the vocabulary mastery and writing analytical exposition text test for the writing ability. The obtained data were assessed by using Product Moment formula and analyzed by using SPSS 23 version for Windows. Based on the data analysis, it showed that there is a moderate and significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and analytical exposition text writing ability of the twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gianyar in academic year 2021/2022. Therefore, it answered the research question that there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and analytical exposition text writing ability.
