Abstract

This study was intended to find out the correlation between grammar mastery and writing achievement in writing recount text. The subjects of the research was Tenth grade students of SMKN 1 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022. The present correlation study research design was then carried out. The instrument used to collect the data were test. The test were grammar mastery test used completion test and writing test were writing recount text. The collected data was analyzed by using SPSS Program 26.0 for windows. Paired sample t-test result is the significance 2- tailed value from students’ grammar mastery and students’ writing achievement was .000. The results showed that the t-testing significance score is had relatively equal variances because the significance is lower than 0.05. The results of calculating correlation between students’ grammar mastery and their achievement in writing recount text was r = 0.951, based on the result, it can be concluded as a high correlation because 0.951 > 0.800, so there is a significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing achievement of The Tenth Grade Students of SMKN 1 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022.
