Improving Writing Skill of the Seventh-Grade Students of SMP TP 45 Denpasar in the Academic Year 2023/2024 Through Simultaneous Roundtable Combined With Picture

Writing is one of four skills that must be learned in language to express ideas in written form. In learning to write at school, the students were trained to produce words and express ideas, feelings, and opinions. On the other hand, many students faced many problems and difficulties in writing especially descriptive paragraphs. The present classroom action research was mainly intended to figure out whether the subject's writing skill can be improved through simultaneous roundtable combined with picture. However, based on the preliminary investigation which was conducted in SMP TP 45 Denpasar, it was found that most of the subject's writing skill still need to be improved and most of them could not pass the minimum passing grade, of 75. It was supported by the result of the pre-test which was carried out in the pre-cycle, 16 subjects who did the pre-test and need guidance in writing. The study was then carried out by implementing simultaneous roundtable combined with picture in two cycles. The result of the post-test in each cycle clearly showed there was significant improvement concerning the subject’s ability to write a descriptive paragraph. Furthermore, there were positive responses concerning the implementation of the technique which combined with teaching media to improve the subjects writing skill. In other words, the present study proved that the writing skill of the seventh-grade students of SMP TP 45 Denpasar in the academic year 2023/2024 can be improved through simultaneous roundtable combined with picture.
