Abstract

Reading is thinking and understanding and getting at the meaning behind a text. Preliminary study showed that most of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 14 Denpasar in academic year 2023/2024 faced problems in reading comprehension especially identifying general information, specific information, textual meaning, and textual reference. In addition, the research objective was to know whether reading comprehension of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 14 Denpasar can be improved through RAP strategy. Therefore, to achieve the objective, the researcher conducted classroom action research which done in to two cycles. The research instrument used in this research were test and questionnaire, that were administered to collect the required data. Then the data analysed by comparing the result from pre-test and post-test which showed there were significant improvement from the mean score of pre-test to post-test. The questionnaire was also administered at the end of the last cycle and the result showed positive responses in the implementation RAP strategy. Based on the research findings, it could be concluded that RAP strategy can improve students reading comprehension and enhance their motivation of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 14 Denpasar in academic year 2023/2024.
