An Analysis of Code Mixing in Puella ID Youtube Channel Entitled “Kuliah Ke Luar Negeri Itu Perlu Gak Sih?! |Cinta Laura x Maudy Ayunda”

This study aims to find out the types of code mixing and the reasons that motivate doing code mixing found in Puella ID Youtube channel Entitled “Kuliah Ke Luar Negeri Itu Perlu Gak Sih?!|Cinta Laura x Maudy Ayunda. The data in this study were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. This study used two theories; the first theory from Muysken (2000) to analyse the types of code mixing and the second theory from Hoffman (1991) to analyse the reasons that motivate doing code mixing. There were 65 data found in all, including 48 insertion code mixing types, 3 alternation code mixing and 14 congruent lexicalizations. The result of this study showed that insertion code mixing is the types of code mixing that occurred most frequently, whereas alternation is the types of code mixing that occurred least frequently. There are five reasons why code mixing occurs on this research; first is talking about particular topic with 41 data and the reason that occurs most frequently, secondly followed by intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor consist of 16 data, then the third is repetition used for clarification consist of 3 data, the fourth is expressing group identity consist of 3 data, and lastly is being emphatic about something consist of 2 data and the reason that occurs the least often.
