The Correlation Between Motivation and Reading Comprehension of The Ninth-grade Student of SMP Pelangi Dharma Nusantara in Academic Year 2023/2024

Reading is a skill that must be mastered. Reading is also an activity carried out by readers to find and understand information in a text. In addition, reading is an important activity for everyone, especially for students. Early research shows that most IXB students at SMP Pelangi Dharma Nusantara Denpasar in the 2023/2024 academic year face problems in reading. In addition, they have difficulties in comprehension and grammar. In addition, this study is primarily intended to determine whether motivation and reading comprehension have a correlation in ninth-grade students of SMP Pelangi Dharma Nusantara for the 2023/2024 school year Thus, to achieve this goal, researchers conducted ex post facto research. Research instruments, the Motivation Questionnaire, and Reading Comprehension Test tests are provided to collect the necessary data. The data were then analyzed by comparing the results of the questionnaire and the reading comprehension test which showed a significant correlation between the population and the average sample score of the questionnaire and the reading comprehension test Based on the results of the research instrument, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between motivation and the reading comprehension of ninth grade students of SMP Pelangi Dharma Nusantara for the 2023/2024 school year.
